We offer a boat insurance package of Liability, Comprehensive and Collision coverage to protect you and your boat from damage resulting from fire, theft and most other perils, plus accidental damage to your boat due to a collision.
Loss settlement options
Agreed value - This is the most common form of loss settlement. We agree on the value of the boat at the time the policy is written. In the event of a total loss, we pay you that amount. Our policies automatically provide Agreed Value for boat up to 10 years old. For 11 years old and older, we have an endorsement available to extend the agreed value or you can continue with market value.
Replacement cost - For boats up to 3 years old, you can upgrade your policy to a replacement cost valuation.
Included in every policy
Medical payments - Every policy includes $1,000 for medical payments. You can increase this up to $25,000.
No lay-up period - We let you use your boat as much as you want.
No hidden deductible - If you have a claim, the deductible you pay is what is listed on the policy.
Tournament participation - Our policy includes coverage when you compete in the occasional water-skiing contest, fishing tournament, or sailing regatta. Pro and semi-pro fishermen should look at our Professional Angler endorsement.
Navigation - Other carriers may tell you when and where you can use your boat, even naming specific lakes and waterways. With American Modern, you're covered in the waters of the U.S., Canada, and Mexico's Pacific Baja coast to Rio Santo Tomas.
Experience - 10% if you have three years of boat ownership
Diesel fuel - 5% if your boat uses diesel
Claim free renewal - 5% first renewal, 10% after
Transferring your policy to us - 15% if no lapse in coverage, 10% if less than a 30 day lapse
Diminishing deductible - With this option, you can lower your deductible by 25% each year you do not have a claim. A small charge is added to your premium to buy-down the deductible.
Boat insurance coverage, options, discounts and deductibles may vary by state. United Marine Underwriters will help you determine the best choice for your circumstances, and explain the coverage limits.
